Welcome to Das Haus

 

A Socially Warm, Well-Furnished Guesthouse

in The Woodlands

are at the bottom of this page.  Das Haus guesthouse is located less than 2 miles from the I-45 exit for
SH-242/College Park in The Woodlands.  It's the same exit as the Methodist Medical Center, Costco,
and Walmart. We are just across from the big, new HEB on SH-242.

Das Haus is our four guestroom guesthouse on the north side of The Woodlands that we've designed to meet the needs of single business, education, or medical professionals. Our guesthouse is warm and classy with a little bit of European flair. We are real people and we enjoy creating a shared-living, socially comfortable community of mature adult residents. Karl is a semi-retired property manager and lives with his wife Angela in the master suite downstairs. If you like what you see and we don't have availability, feel free to request a viewing and we'll put you on our waiting list.

All of the downstairs of our 3500 sq ft residential home are common areas except for the master suite. The interior design of Das Haus is open and spokes out from the spacious kitchen. Das Haus' hosts, Karl and Angela, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere with an Old World provincial European theme. The living room boasts a big Samsung 70" 4K HDTV and an awesome sounding home theater system for movie nights and big games. And in the wintertime a natural gas fireplace provides a cozy atmosphere. The downstairs kitchen is common area and stocked with all the accouterments a cooking enthusiast would want. The kitchen bar and the lovely dining room are regularly used by our renters. If you're a musician, a 1904 Emerson Cabinet Grand piano is in the dining room. And an 80's vintage Roland 88 key synthesizer lives in the office.


Das Haus includes all these features at a single affordable price:

- All four guestrooms: Queen size beds with attractive bedspreads or quilts and bed linen, new memory foam topped Sealy Posturepedic mattress or 3"memory/gel foam mattress toppers, nightstands w/table lamps, dressers, work stations, wall-mount smart HDTV's, ceiling fans, closets, and keyed door locks.

- There are two nicely appointed, full bathrooms upstairs. Both are hallway entry right in between two of the bedrooms. A half-bath is also available right at the base of the stairs. Bath linen, hand soap, toilet paper, air freshener supplies are provided.
- The upstairs lounge dining area has a dining table, counter space, full-size refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, instant pot, and coffee makers. There is a filtered water beverage faucet next to the fridge. We provide disposable plates, bowls, cups, salt, pepper, etc. on the counter. We assign space in the pantry shelves and in the fridge to you at move-in.
- The upstairs lounge also has a seating area and is a great place to eat, read, or just kick back.
- WiFi is a solid 1 Gigabyte service from our fiber optics ISP. A centrally located 3 radio channel dedicated router handles our network traffic. Residents may print direct to our multi-function copier/printer available on WiFi.
- The laundry room is off the 2nd floor hallway. A utility sink, steam iron and ironing board are all available.

- A exercise/workout area in the upstairs lounge is equipped with a high quality treadmill, an abdominal crunch/back extension workout bench, chrome dumbbells with 150# of plates, a recumbent bike, and a Teeter brand inversion table.

- The home is equipped with radiant barrier technology in the attic and uses identical 2 & 1/2 ton Carrier HVAC units for upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs doesn't run way hotter than downstairs in the Houston summer heat like in a lot of two story homes. We also run a dehumidifier that helps condition the air from the Houston humidity.
- Monthly costs for electricity, gas, water, trash, fiber optics internet service, Hulu Live, ESPN, Disney+, and NetFlix streaming all are included in a single, fixed-price room rent.

Das Haus is a great value with a sophisticated atmosphere. Everything you need...  is here waiting for you at a single price.
If you rent "just an average apartment" in or close up to The Woodlands, and then add on your electricity, gas, water, trash, internet & streaming TV (Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc.), you should expect to pay at least $1200 to $1600 in monthly rent and utilities. Why not spend a year living in community with some other smart folks who’ve chosen wisely too, and put $6000 plus in the bank. Or... how about $6000 more fun in the coming year. Come on over and have a look at us. We're not what you would think for the money. We’re surprisingly better.

Rental Prices for Das Haus:

Room 1, 16X11, Largest Room, Big Bay Windows $750

Beautiful triple bay windows that open to the morning sun make this a very lovely and sunny room. The room features a new Sealy Posturepedic queen bed, reversible comforter, solid wood matching nightstand w/table lamp, backlit curio shelf, computer desk and chair, wall-mount smart TV, and a ceiling fan. It has a very large walk-in closet. The 5 drawer solid wood vertical dresser provided with the room is located inside the spacious walk-in closet. This arrangement makes the living space seem even larger and makes this our most luxurious rental room. It shares a bathroom with Room 2 across the hallway.

 

Room 2, 11X10, Big Closet & Extra Storage $695

This room features a 3" memory/gel foam topper on a queen bed, quilt, computer desk and chair, smart TV, and a ceiling fan. The "Old World" dresser and matching nightstand are unique import pieces purchased about 15 years ago from Pier 1 Imports. The room has a very good sized walk-in closet. There is an attic storage space accessed through a door in the closet. The room shares a bathroom with Room 1 across the hallway.

Room 3, 14X12, Bronze Bedframe, Walk-in Closet $750

This room is our second largest. It features a beautiful oil-rubbed bronze bedframe purchased a number of years ago from the import store "The Bombay Company". The bed is decorated with a a beautiful plush comforter. The dresser and unique "secretary" are finished in gloss white. The room has a wall-mount smart TV and ceiling fan. There is a walk-in closet of standard size. This room shares a bathroom, with Room 4.

Room 4, 12X11, At Top of Stairs $695

This room features a new Sealy Posturepedic queen bed, quilt, backlit curio shelf, computer desk and chair, smart TV, and a ceiling fan. The "Old World" dresser and matching nightstand are unique import pieces purchased about 15 years ago from Pier 1 Imports. The closet is a single room sized walk-in. This room shares a bathroom with Room 3.

 

Terms:  This is a smokeless property. (No smoke of any kind on property, no exceptions.)
All guestrooms are upstairs, we can't accommodate pets. Rooms are available for single person occupancy only. You must be 21 yrs or older. Occasional guests are allowed. We expect mature, sociable behavior from all our residents. Rooms are rented month-to-month and there is a $250 refundable security deposit on all rooms. Our residents typically stay more than a year. Paying the deposit in advance will hold a room. We own an English Springer Spaniel most of our residents enjoy loving on.
