The resorts are not actually in La Romana. They are just past a beach town named Bayahibe nearby. 5 resorts close to each other on a long stretch of beach on the Caribbean side of Hispaniola where the waves are softer. La Romana was much more popular before the growth of Punta Cana. This one is the Italian owned Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach.

Dominicanos just make you happy to be around them. The resort is one of the few owned by the Italians. Staffed by nearly all Dominicans.
They're real. Much better in person.
This guy was great on the trapeze and did some amazing things on a rope on stage for one of the entertainment nights. He was Jamaican.

I was in this pool most days. I felt pretty privileged for it not being too crowded and to be so gorgeous at the same time.
The tourists were not to be deterred just because some clouds were out. The beaches were beautiful all the same.
